I’m not sure if it’s my long-term fixation on British culture (Hey Rolling Stones, Sherlock, etc., etc.) or my deep (and new-found) affection for One Direction hairstylist Lou Teasdale, but I am seriously digging the lilac candyfloss hair trend sweeping the roots of beauty addicts across the globe.
If candyfloss doesn’t ring a bell, think pastel, powdery color hair. I love it because the overall effect is like something out of a fairytale – whimsical, but still almost believable, in a way a vivid neon electric blue could never be.
Lou wears the style best in my opinion (hence the gold star winner), but Cara Delevingne, Kelly Osbourne and Ireland Baldwin (who switched to blue a few weeks later) look just as rad.
Next up on my list of gotta-have spring essentials is metallic nails. Sure, a pastel pink or poppy pattern might scream spring, too, but why scream when you can command the room with a whisper? Well, not quite a whisper, but something a little less obvious than polka dots and florals.
Metallic nails shine bright (like a diamond) while still keeping their distance from that oft-tread path of predictability, which is not a path I’d choose for you, dear reader.
They’re fierce (but fun!) and seriously fantastic for spring.
And what else am I crushing on? Glad you asked. If you couldn’t already tell from the lilac hair trend, I’m lovin’ anything playful and unexpected. And nothing’s more playful than a play-on-words, amirite?!
Check out this little number I recently purchased from #NYLONshop.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, the word “Homies” here bears a striking resemblance to the Hermès logo of Paris (just switch the carriage for super sweet ride and, obviously, homies). And who doesn’t enjoy the irony of a luxury label printed across a plain gray T-shirt? Once it arrives, I’m planning on pairing it with a patterned skirt of high-waist shorts.
What spring trends are you loving right now?!
